The NFT ViRtahepo Metaverse event’s Demo space offers a wide range of advanced cultural technologies and the opportunities they offer in the field of culture and the arts. The workshop is aimed at Turku’s cultural operators and all those interested in digital technology and will discuss the new opportunities created by blockchain technology (NFT), virtual reality (VR) and metaverse in the changing cultural environment. For many, these technologies may seem alien or even scary – like a “hippo in a digital room” – but their impact on future culture is undeniable. It is therefore important to reflect on their potential and challenges.
Demos will be available in areas such as visual and performing arts, with concrete examples of how the technologies can be applied. Participation in virtual reality is possible with on-site equipment, but personal devices are also allowed: for example, you can participate with a mobile phone or tablet, or even by bringing your own laptop computer. For the younger members of the family, the National Gallery’s Art Heist game is available in a Fortnite environment – so there’s something for all the family to do!
- XR Stage at the National Opera: Experience a new kind of immersive performance.
- The National Gallery’s Art Heist in Fortnite: an interactive art experience on the popular gaming platform.
- ALUSTA and Combine24 competition: get to know NFT technology.
- ProVerse and IloNovi Metaverse Platforms: get to know what metaverse is.
The Digital Arts House project is well underway and now it’s time to find out what it’s all about! The first online co-residency of CULTURHUB, the project’s international cooperation network, is about to start, while tenders and cooperation negotiations for the VR/Metaverse platform are underway. These milestones have been reached through an extensive brainstorming and collaboration process involving a wide range of cultural stakeholders in the design and development of digital solutions.
Join us for a unique experience! The demo space will be open to everyone on Saturday 14 September and Sunday 15 September from 12:00 to 16:00 and is free of charge.
