The Art House Turku Makasiini restaurant street offers the most exquisite summer atmosphere!
19.2.2026
Art House Turku´s Makasiinit restaurant street , which has brought Luostarin Välikatu to well-deserved fame, will reopen after a short winter break on the evening before May Day, Thursday 30 April 2026. The range of flavours at Makasiinit will become even more varied when three new restaurant concepts join the familiar players from last year. In addition to food and drink, there will also be more entertainment on offer on summer evenings.
The Art House’s Makasiinit restaurant street celebrated its first summer in 2025 on Luostarin Välikatu, serving delicious food and drinks in a unique setting. Most evenings, the restaurant street was filled with cheerful conversation, and this will continue into the summer and Christmas of 2026. As last year, Impivaaran Tähdet Oy will be responsible for the operations of Makasiinit.
“We have a fantastic programme for the coming summer. It’s a great mix of old and new restaurants that complement each other perfectly. There will also be more programme content every week, and opening hours will be adjusted accordingly,” says Mika Wikström, CEO of Impivaaran Tähdet Oy.

KBC Kakola Brewing Company‘s Sommar Bistro & Terrace, Rica Bars Minikapakka and Tipsy Toasty, which we recognise from the first summer at Makasiinit, are joined by Veistämö Wine Bar‘s summer terrace PIHA and the restaurants La Scuderia and Tu Casa.
Sommar Bistro & Terrace, which was fully booked last summer, will continue this year, and small dishes can be enjoyed on the terrace. Tipsy Toasty will continue to serve delicious grilled sandwiches alongside carefully selected wines, craft beers from small breweries and refreshing lemonades. Last summer, Tipsy Toasty’s wine tastings were fully booked, so this year they will be held on Wednesdays throughout the summer. Minikapakka serves cocktails and mocktails, wines and beers that can be enjoyed in beautiful surroundings, either on their own or with the restaurant’s dishes. Café Elephanten will be serving café delicacies this summer, from cakes to savoury pies and speciality coffees.
La Scuderia is a Milanese-style restaurant where you can enjoy fresh and bold Italian aperitifs in the unique atmosphere of the Makasiinit. The restaurant draws inspiration from Milan’s trendy street scene and delicious food culture. The restaurant is run by an Italian-Finnish family that also runs the Tavastin Kilta restaurant in Naantali and the Tori’o restaurant in Turku’s market square. The name La Scuderia refers to Italy’s famous black stallion, but also to the history of the Makasiinit building, as the restaurant’s name translates beautifully into Finnish as “horse stable”.
Tu Casa brings the flavours of the Caribbean and South America to Makasiinit restaurant street. The heart of the kitchen is a Cuban-born chef who combines authentic flavours, high-quality ingredients and relaxed street food. Tu Casa is particularly proud of its Peruvian ceviche, a fresh and highly appreciated fish dish that is part of UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage. The diversity of South American cuisine is highlighted in the form of theme weeks with culinary journeys to the cuisines of Cuba, Peru and the Dominican Republic, among others.
PIHA Wine Bar & Terrace has its own carefully selected range: small-scale and organic European wines, high-quality and seasonal non-alcoholic alternatives, and a small selection of cheeses and bar snacks that vary with the season. PIHA is an experiential terrace where you can also stop by to create, as the restaurant rents out easels and tools to complement your drink or organizes a relaxed painting workshop for a group of friends or work colleagues.
“La Scuderia, Tu Casa and PIHA Wine Bar & Terrace are fantastic additions to the restaurant street. We are delighted to welcome these new players to our community. It has already been fantastic to see how our collaboration is developing, and we look forward to a fantastic summer with an even more varied selection of food, drink and programmes, says Anna-Maija Vaimala, Production and Communications Manager at Art House Turku.
Just like last summer, Felix Manell is responsible for the DJ programme at the restaurant street, with music every evening from Thursday to Saturday. During the summer season on Tuesdays, you can also listen to Art House Turku staff and tenants as they share their musical preferences during the Taiteen talo After Work events, which are open to everyone.
