Clayroom
Clayroom is an open ceramics studio located at Art House Turku, offering space for creative work as well as a wide range of courses for makers of all levels. At the studio, you can explore the fundamentals of ceramics with guidance or deepen your skills in a calm and inspiring environment.
The course selection includes beginner classes as well as themed workshops focusing on techniques such as wheel throwing and hand-building. Teaching emphasizes understanding the material, the joy of making, and the courage to experiment. At Clayroom, we believe clay belongs to everyone, no prior experience is needed, only curiosity and a desire to create.
For those who have completed a beginner’s course or already have experience in ceramics, the studio also offers the opportunity to work independently in the open studio. Clayroom provides everything you need: workstations, pottery wheels, clay, tools, glazes, and firing services. The space naturally fosters a small, supportive community of makers.
Clayroom is our shared ceramics living room, a place where clay offers insights, experiences, and the joy of working with your hands. The relaxed and creative studio fits perfectly into the unique atmosphere of Taiteen talo.
Clayroom was founded by three professional ceramic artists: Sanna Gröndahl, Sanna Leinonen, and Joonas Nyman. They share a workspace located next to the Clayroom studio. Alongside running Clayroom, the artists create studio and art ceramics under their own names.
