Turku Student Theatre autumn 2024 courses: light design course

TIME: Tue 20.8. at 18-21, Thu 22.8. at 18-21 and Sat 24.8. at 15-19 (total 10h)

The course will give you a practical approach to designing and implementing the visual appearance of a theatre performance in the form of lighting design. The teaching focuses on choosing the right casts and light directions to build the desired stage sets and programming the finished performance. In addition to technical skills, the course will develop your artistic thinking and your ability to think of performances as multi-artistic and multi-part entities. The course is designed for those who already have some understanding of theatre technology and especially for those who took the TYT’s basic course in lighting design in autumn 2023, but any previous basic knowledge is sufficient.

The course instructor is Tuomas Vainionpää, who graduated in spring 2024 as a theatre visualisation instructor and is a founding member of the visual theatre collective Kosmos Collective in Turku.
