The Path of Light is a light art spectacle arranged by the City of Turku. It consists of a great light event and seasonal lighting on display throughout the darkest winter season. The inspiration for the Path of Light was drawn from Turku itself, its stories, atmosphere and the surrounding landscapes.

LOVE YOU TOO! – ANTTI KULMALA

Love You too!, or Niin määki sua! in the Turku dialect, is a symbol of love for Turku and one of its most beautiful streets.

Luostarin Välikatu served as the main street of Turku in the Middle Ages. It led from the Dominican Convent of St Olaf in Kaskenmäki to the city centre and the cathedral. After the Great Fire of Turku, C.L. Engel designed a grid plan for the city while preserving the old medieval centre in its original form. Luostarin Välikatu was kept as a reminder of the old narrow streets. Since then, the street has inspired photographers and served as a backdrop for numerous films.

Antti Kulmala is a Turku-born light artist whose works have been exhibited in various settings in Turku: along with the Path of Light, his works have been seen at the Children’s Land of Light events of the Adventure Park and at the Lux et Umbra exhibition of the Wäinö Aaltonen Museum.

This year, all the works featured in the light art event will be situated along the River Aura, above it or, for the first time, within the river itself. The river, its surroundings and the open views create the best possible setting for the 17 works that are included this time.
