Sini-Meri Hedberg – The Waste Land
18.-29.9.2024 Tue-Sun 12-18.

The series of painted horizons focuses on the theme of death, depicting the boundary of death. The exhibition examines what is waiting for us on the other side and what it looks like and feels like on the boundary of death. The paintings depict the moods in the vicinity of death that are hard to put into words. Confusion is reflected in the paintings as color interpretations and as various seen spaces, deserts.

Turku-based Sini-Meri Hedberg is known for her pastel color landscape paintings inspired by the northern sky, abstract expressionism and German Romantic landscape paintings from the 19th century. The Waste Land features paintings in which the artist has sought a simpler style of expression.

The Waste land project has been supported  (2020-23) by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland, and The Turku Art Society, City of Turku and TOP-Säätiö.
